Ambassador Einik (USA) visits displaced persons

Einik, paid a visit to the displaced persons settled in CC "Olimipisko
Selo" in Skopje today, where at the present moment 360 persons from
Tetovo region, mainly Tearce municipality, are being sheltered.
The main goal of the visit was marking the beginning of the project for
determining displaced persons' priority needs of support for their returning
to their homes. The project is being carried out with financial support
from the American Embassy in Skopje, in cooperation with American Refugee
Center (ARC) and Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC),
First Children's Embassy Megjashi, Roma Women organizationDaja from Kumanovo,
Union of women organizations in Macedonia and Organization of women organizationsin
Macedonia.
The ambassador had an opportunity to visit two families (Stojkoski) settled
in the building and in one of the bungalows in Olimpisko Selo, as well
as have a half-hour meeting with representatives of the displaced persons
of this collective center: Vlado Naumovski, Petko Gjorgjevski and Violeta
Srbovska. They, in the presence of the manager of the collective center
and the mayor of Gazi Baba municipality (who helped organize the accommodation
in the CC), expressed their condolences to the American people, referring
to the events that took place on September 11th, and stressed some of
the issues about their returning home: safety in the villages and roads
leading to them, restoring their homes, as well as the economic structures
in which most of the residents were employed.
The ambassador Einik expressed readiness for help in resolving this problems,
including the rebuilding of the religious objects and any other needs
that come out of the talks with the displaced persons, by means of carrying
out the project whose start he announced today.
Prior to this, MCIC helped this collective center with humanitarian aid
in food for the first few days of its functioning, as well as partial
sanation of the bungalows, in which many of the displaced persons are
sheltered.
