1. Reconstruction / Rehabilitation

UNICEF presented the database containing priority schools for rehabilitation (schools that have been assessed) and proposals (schools where access has been a problem). The list of schools for rehabilitation and assistance will be attached to the minutes.

All donors and agencies that are interested in rehabilitation or reconstruction were informed that most of the schools will have to be provided with wood or oil for the winter heating.

On Monday 8 October 2001 letter with all priority activities of the agencies will be send to the Ministry of Education and Science.

2. School kits

UNICEF is continuing with the distribution of textbooks and learning materials for the IDP and remainee children.

3. Refugees

Collective centre Katlanovo: All albanian speaking children started attending PS Bratstvo Edinstvo in Konjare on Monday 1 October 2001. About the macedonian speaking children from I to IV grade an information about the school in Katlanovo village is expected from UNHCR. UNICEF has finished with the distribution of textbooks and learning materials for the refugee children who attend PS Koco Racin in Petrovec village.

Collective centre Suto Orizari: 15 macedonian and 15 albanian speaking children attend Makarenko school in Suto Orizari. 21 students attend Makarenko evening school in Madzari. The transportation for these students is provided by UNHCR.

4. AOB

The next Education Working Group meeting will be held on 11 October 2001 at 3:00 p.m. in the UNICEF Conference Room.
